THE San Francisco Giants have signed Darryl Strawberry, waived for dollars 4.857m ( pounds 3.27m) by the Los Angeles Dodgers, six weeks after his release from a drug rehabilitation centre. No fee for his new contract has been disclosed. The Giants' manager, Bob Quinn, said Strawberry would appear in a minor league side before being considered for a major league appearance, probably midway through the season.
