Vladimir Kondrashin, the coach who led the Soviet Union to their first Olympic title in 1972, died of cancer on Thursday at the age of 70.

Dennis Rodman has been booked on suspicion of drunken driving. The five- time NBA championship winner, currently without a team after being cut by the LA Lakers, failed a field sobriety test conducted by a special driving-under-the-influence team. Rodman, who has been arrested three times in the past four months, posted a $2,500 (pounds 1,603) bond and was released.
