A minor hand injury to the World Boxing Council super-middleweight champion Thulane Malinga, of South Africa, has set back his title defence in Telford with Richie Woodhall from 28 February to 27 March.

A new tournament designed to revive small-hall boxing was launched in London yesterday. Fifteen British promoters will stage the UK Masters Championship beginning in April. Sixteen fighters will compete in each division with the competition, lasting a year, comprising preliminary bouts, quarter and semi-finals and 10-round finals to be held in Manchester and London.
