New Zealand's cricket authorities yesterday named the former New Zealand bowler David Trist as coach and the former captain Jeff Crowe as team manager. Trist, 51, and Crowe, 41, will take over from Steve Rixon and John Graham, who are set to complete their terms at the end of New Zealand's current tour of England. Trist has spent 17 years as a professional coach in South Africa, where he steered Eastern Province to the Currie Cup, the Netherlands and Hong Kong; while Crowe has run his own sports management and event company since his retirement from cricket in 1992. He was this year appointed to the board of New Zealand Tennis.
