Devon Malcolm has been offered a new contract by Derbyshire, the club he has played for since 1984. He will decide whether to accept the new terms by the end of the month.

Danny Morrison, the New Zealand fast bowler who ranks second only to Sir Richard Hadlee on his country's Test wicket-taking list, yesterday announced his retirement. Morrison took 160 wickets in 48 tests to trail Hadlee's 431.
