IAN BISHOP, the West Indian fast bowler, will not play for Derbyshire this season. He is still not fit after a year out of the game with a spinal stress fracture. India's captain, Mohammad Azharuddin, will therefore return for his second season with Derbyshire.

ROSHAN MANAHAMA will captain Sri Lankan at the Australasia Cup one-day tournament, which starts in Sharjah on 13 April. He replaces Arjuna Ranatunga, who resigned, along with five selectors, in protest at the dropping of the vice-captain, Aravinda de Silva, who failed a fitness test which, it is alleged, was not carried out by qualified doctors.

ONE-DAY INTERNATIONAL (Bloemfontein): Australia 203 for 6; South Africa 202 for 7 (A C Hudson 84). Australia won by one run. South Africa and Australia tied series 4-4.
