SHEFFIELD SHIELD (First of four days, Sydney): Tasmania 230 for 6 (S Young 62) v New South Wales.

DANNY MORRISON became the first New Zealand bowler to take a hat- trick in a one-day international as his country beat India by 28 runs in the first of a four-match limited overs series in Napier yesterday. Morrison dismissed Kapil Dev, Salil Ankola and Nayan Mongia, all clean bowled, as the Indians could only manage 212 for 9 in their 50 overs in reply to New Zealand's 240 for 5.
