ARJUNA RANATUNGA, the Sri Lankan captain, hit 82 from 78 balls to steer his team to a surprise seven- wicket win over Pakistan in Colombo yesterday, eliminating the world champions from the four-team World Series Cup.

WORLD SERIES CUP (Colombo): Pakistan 210 for 6 (50 overs; Salim Malik 53); Sri Lanka 213 for 3 (47.2 overs; A Ranatunga 82). Sri Lanka won by seven wickets.
