BOB WILLIS, the former England captain, yesterday denied that he was interested in the job of Surrey's director of cricket policy. 'I did not apply and I have not been approached by Surrey,' said Willis, who added that his current commitments would make it impossible for him to take on the job.

WORCESTERSHIRE yesterday reported a club record of more than pounds 104,000 in pre-tax profits for last season.

JONTY RHODES, the South African fielder who broke a bone in his hand while playing against Australia in the World Series Cup on Tuesday, could be fit to play in the first Test on 26 December. 'Jonty has an outside chance of playing in the Test and we are frantically working on him trying to get him right for the match,' Rob Muzzel, the team manager, said yesterday.
