Chris Walker won his first national cycling title at 33 when he finished alone in a rain-soaked British circuit race championship at Haverhill, Suffolk. The Sheffield professional who won the 1991 Milk Race completed the 72km some 17 seconds clear of the Welshman Chris Williams, Dan Smith, and the British road race champion, Matt Stephens.
