Belgium's Johan Museeuw decided after a long work-out yesterday that he will defend his world road race title on Sunday despite a recurrence of the kidney trouble he suffered in the Tour de France.

Torsten Hieckmann's moment of glory was upset when the old East German national anthem was played after the German had won the men's world junior time trial gold. German spectators whistled derisively at the anthem which vanished with German unification in 1990.
