The Italian Professional Cycling League yesterday postponed until 11 October a ruling on an appeal by the former world champion, Gianni Bugno, against his two-year suspension for a positive drug test for caffeine. Before making a decision, the Italian Olympic Committee and the International Cycling Union must thrash out differences between Italian and international sanctions for drug offences at a meeting in Rome today.
