Alex Zulle, of Switzerland, made partial amends for a miserable Tour of Spain by winning the 16th stage in the Spanish Pyrenees yesterday. Zulle started the tour as favourite but slipped out of contention last week after a campaign marred by illness and accident. The Frenchman, Laurent Jalabert, crossed the line in second place, retaining the race leader's yellow jersey, and increased his lead over Abraham Olano, of Spain, in the overall standings to 6min 18sec.
