Dennis Priestley, one of only five players to win two world titles, was beaten by his John Ferrell, a taxi driver from Essex who brought off the first shock of the first round of the Skol World Darts Championship at Purfleet, Essex, yesterday. In the match of the round, Bob Anderson, who won the world title in 1988, beat Keith Deller, the 1983 champion, 3-2 after a sudden-death last set which Anderson won by six legs to four.
