The former Airdrie midfielder Wes Reid has declared his intention to sue the Lanarkshire club for restraint of trade. Reid, 30, claims the Diamonds effectively cut short his career five years ago by demanding pounds 70,000 for him when he was out of contract.

England and Scotland's struggles in the Euro 2000 qualifiers are reflected in the latest Fifa world rankings. England have continued their freefall and are now 13th while Scotland have dropped six places to 27th.
