Zinedine Zidane may make his international comeback this weekend in France's European Championship qualifier against Ukraine after missing their last four qualifiers. The world player of the year revealed that he is regaining match fitness after a knee operation.

The Borussia Monchengladbach coach Rainer Bonhof resigned yesterday. The once mighty German club, relegated from the top flight for the first time last season, are second from bottom of the Second Division without a point.

Trinidad and Tobago honoured one of its most famous sons, Manchester United's Dwight Yorke, in its Independence Day awards yesterday. Yorke, born on the island of Tobago, was awarded the Chaconia Gold Medal, his country's second highest honour.
