The former Barcelona, Real Madrid and Ajax forward Michael Laudrup was named assistant coach to the Danish national team. Laudrup will work under the new national coach, Morten Olsen, who has replaced Bo Johansson.

The West Bromwich Albion manager Brian Little is set to name Allan Evans as the new assistant manager at the Hawthorns. Evans worked under Little at Leicester, Aston Villa and Stoke and he will replace John Gorman, who has left Albion to take up a post with Reading.

The Hearts midfielder Stefan Salvatori has has returned home to Italy and is looking for a new club.

The St Johnstone central defender Darren Dods is expected to miss the next four months of the season because of a shoulder injury. Dods, 24, is due to have an operation on the injury in the next few days after visiting a specialist.

The Scottish Premier League have confirmed Celtic versus Motherwell, Hearts against Kilmarnock and St Johnstone's clash with Dundee United, all scheduled for 2 & 3 October, will now take place on 27 October with 7.45pm kick-offs.
