In an attempt to raise the profile of the women's game, Fifa, the world governing body, have brought forward the next women's World Cup by one year to 2002, the same year of the forthcoming men's World Cup, FIFA president Sepp Blatter announced yesterday. The host nation for 2002 has yet to be decided but Blatter implied that Australia were a leading candidate.

Arsenal's Uefa Cup third-round second-leg match with Nantes in France tomorrow night has been put back to a 7.15pm (GMT) - 15 minutes later than the original scheduled kick-off.

Everton will show Saturday's FA Cup third-round tie at Exeter on a giant screen at Goodison Park. Gates will open at 11.30am, with admission prices pounds 8 and pounds 5 (concessions).
