The French Interior Ministry announced yesterday that perimeter fences will remain at two World Cup stadiums in Lens and St Etienne during next summer's World Cup. The Ministry added that a final decision about stadiums in Nantes, Toulouse, Lyon and Montpellier would be made before 15 February after "complementary checks".

The Republic of Ireland Under-18 side have been given a pounds 250 fine by Uefa's control and disciplinary panel for "improper conduct of the team" during their match against the Czech Republic last November.

The Plymouth Argyle striker Padi Wilson, who was signed from Ashton United for a nominal fee last summer, has moved to Doncaster Rovers on a free transfer.
