Partick Thistle have appointed the Queen of the South midfielder Tommy Bryce as their new player-manager. Sammy Johnston is his assistant, while his coach will be another former Thistle player, Willie Jamieson.

Rangers are planning a pre-season tour to Norway with fixtures against Molde on 28 June, Asane on 30 June and Voss on 2 July.

The Football Association have agreed to Manchester United's request to bring forward the kick-off of the Charity Shield, so they have more time to prepare for their Champions' League qualifier three days later. United will now face Arsenal at 1.00pm on Sunday, 9 August, four hours earlier than usual.

The Scottish Football Association will move from their Park Garden headquarters in Glasgow to offices within the new Hampden Park next winter.

The striker Don Goodman is leaving Wolves for the Japanese club, Sanfrecce Hiroshima.

Stan Ternent is the new Burnley manager and Sam Ellis will be his assistant. Ellis had been Ternent's No 2 at Bury.

The former Celtic and Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Pat Bonner has joined Reading as assistant manager.
