The former France striker Jean-Pierre Papin has left Bordeaux and signed a one-year contract with the French Second Division side Guingamp.

Nuremberg and Freiburg gained promotion to the German Bundesliga First Division on Wednesday, joining Eintracht Frankfurt. Cologne, Karlsruhe and Arminia Bielefeld were relegated.
