BBC1 announced yesterday they will screening live both legs of Liverpool's second-round Uefa Cup tie against Strasbourg, in France on 21 October and back at Anfield on 4 November.

The defenders Marcus Hall (Coventry) and Michael Duberry (Chelsea) and the striker Bruce Dyer (Crystal Palace) have withdrawn from the England Under-21 squad for Friday's European Championship with Italy in Rieti. The manager, Peter Taylor, is not seeking replacements.

Cardiff City's Lee Phillips and Oxford United's Anthony Wright have been drafted into the Wales Under-21 squad for Friday's match against Belgium Under-21 in Brussels, in place of Swansea's Jonathan Coates and Gareth Roberts of Liverpool.

Some of football's recent greats will play in Milan in a farewell match for the former Milan and Italy captain, Franco Baresi. Maradona, Romario, Zico, Hugo Sanchez and Emilio Butragueno will be in a Rest of the World squad which will play a Milan selection at the San Siro on 28 October. Baresi will lead a Milan team which will include the Dutch trio of Marco Van Basten, Ruud Gullit and Frank Rijkaard.

Internazionale will play Libya's national team in Varese on Saturday in a charity match to raise funds for Italy's earthquake victims.

The Wigan defender Scott Green has been banned for three matches after his fifth booking of the season at Grimsby on Saturday.
