THE Republic of Ireland have confirmed that their final friendly match before leaving for the World Cup finals will be against the Czech Republic at Lansdowne Road, Dublin, on 5 June.

TOMMY GEMMELL, the former Celtic and Scotland full-back, resigned yesterday as the manager of Albion Rovers, who are bottom of the Scottish Second Division.

BARNET, bottom of the Second Division, have been given a further two weeks to sort out their financial problems following a meeting with creditors yesterday.

THE United States will play South Korea on March 12 in a benefit game for victims of last week's Los Angeles earthquake.

TRANSFER: Jon Sheffield, goalkeeper, Cambridge United to Swindon Town (loan).
