GARY ROBSON, West Bromwich Albion's longest serving player, was yesterday given a free transfer by his manager, Ossie Ardiles, after more then 10 years at the club. Robson, 27, is the younger brother of Manchester United's Bryan.

ANDY ROXBURGH, the Scotland coach, yesterday criticised Richard Gough for announcing that he would not play for Scotland again under his management. 'He has embarrassed himself publicly by the things he has said and the timing of them,' Roxburgh said, adding that he had spent a 'ludicrous' amount of time dealing with the matter before Wednesday's Group One match against Estonia at Aberdeen, which the Scots won 3-1.
