THE Polish Football Association has punished the country's new champions, Legia Warsaw, and three other clubs after claims that the two matches last weekend which decided the title were rigged. Legia won the league on goal difference with a 6-0 win at Wisla Krakow while LKS Lodz, who needed to win and score at least three more goals than Legia to take the title, beat Olimpia Poznan 7-1. All four clubs have been fined about pounds 20,000 each - but the results and the final table will stand.

DYNAMO KIEV, who won 13 league titles in the old Soviet Union, have won the first Ukrainian championship on goal difference from Dnepr Dnepropetrovsk.

MANCHESTER CITY have signed David Crawley, a 16-year-old, from the Irish club Dundalk for pounds 25,000.

EUROPEAN UNDER-16 CHAMPIONSHIP Qualifying tournament: Scotland 9 Estonia 1 (at Forthbank stadium, Stirling).
