Laura Davies sank a birdie putt on the third play-off hole at Palm Harbour, Florida, as she and John Daly fought back from a five-shot deficit yesterday to defeat Pak Se Ri and Paul Azinger and win the $2m (pounds 1.2m) JCPenney Classic.
Davies made the winning putt on the par-three 17th hole after the two teams parred the 18th and 16th, the first two play-off holes. The winning pair collected $440,000. Davies and Daly combined for a seven-under-par 64 in the alternate-shot format to finish at 24-under-par 260.
