MARK CALCAVECCHIA, the 33-year- old United States player, may be out of action for up to six months after suffering a torn medial ligament in his right knee while skiing in Flagstaff, Arizona, two weeks ago.

NICK PRICE of Zimbabwe received the 1993 'Player of the Year' award from his fellow competitors on the US PGA Tour in Carlsbad, California, on Thursday. Vijay Singh, of Fiji, was voted 'Rookie of the Year'. Australia's Greg Norman, the reigning Open champion, won the Byron Nelson Award for low scoring average, with a average of 68.9. Norman also led the tour in driving.
