BRITAIN are in fourth place after the preliminary rounds of the world championships in Owens Valley, California. The United States lead on 7,204 points from Australia (7,040), Germany (6,980) and Britain (6,949). Bruce Goldsmith was the only member of the British team not to qualify for the final rounds although Robin Hamilton, injured on Saturday, just scraped into the finals in 40th position in his pool.
