The Sheffield Steelers could fold in the next 48 hours unless the club can find a short-term financial rescue package. Steelers are preparing for what could be their final game at the Sheffield Arena tomorrow against Nottingham Panthers. The club have been unable to recover from debts of pounds 400,000, despite a donation of pounds 100,000 from their Spain-based owner George Dodds, and a further pounds 100,000 independently raised by supporters.

Nottingham Panthers gained an emphatic 6-3 Sekonda Superleague victory at London Knights last night. Victory for the Panthers moves them to within six points of the leaders Manchester Storm. They lie one point adrift of second-placed Cardiff Devils, whom they meet on Boxing Day.
