ALAN MAXWELL, who manages the Scottish golfer Andrew Oldcorn, is leading a five-strong consortium bidding for the financially troubled Edinburgh club Murrayfield Racers. According to Maxwell a deal is on the brink of being completed which should enable the Racers to open their season with a defence of the Benson and Hedges Cup at Blackburn on Saturday, 4 September.
