Michael Schumacher tried out the new Ferrari F300 on the Spanish circuit of Jerez yesterday. However, the twice Formula One world champion covered just 11 laps, hampered by constant problems with the engine and transmission.

Minardi have released the Brazilian driver Tarso Marques from his contract only six weeks before the 1998 Formula One season starts in Australia. Marques, 22, joined the Minardi team at the start of 1996.
