Motor racing

The British-based Tyrrell team has lost one of its major backers for next season. Nokia, the Helsinki-based telecommunications group, has pulled out of Formula One.

In yesterday's rain-hit test session at Estoril, Michael Schumacher was fastest with a best time in his Ferrari of 1min 37.60sec. Damon Hill in a Williams was second quickest with 1:37.63. Hill's new team-mate, Jacques Villeneuve, spun off while attempting to lap on slick tyres.
