ORGANISERS of Cape Town's bid to host the 2004 Games claimed yesterday that Peking and Paris are likely to drop out of contention. Ray Ackerman, co-chairman of the committee promoting the South African campaign, also said he had been informed by delegates that the Chinese would defer to an African bid on the understanding that the latter 'looked favourably' on Peking's bid for the 2008 Games.
