JUHA KANKKUNEN, the world champion and the event's overnight leader, crashed his Toyota and retired during the second day of the Safari Rally in Kenya. His Toyota colleague, Ian Duncan of Kenya, now leads the rally by 16 minutes from Japan's Kenjiro Shinozuka, driving a Mitsubishi.
