Sporting Digest: Rugby Union
The rebel Welsh clubs Cardiff and Swansea are to be called before a five-man panel from the Welsh Rugby Union general committee to explain why they have quit the Premier Division to play friendlies against English clubs. The meeting will determine whether the WRU takes sanctions against the clubs.
Angus McKeen, the Ireland A front row forward, has been suspended for 60 days for stamping during Leinster's European Cup game with Begles-Bordeaux last Saturday.
Diego Dominguez, the Italian stand-off who was born in Argentina, will face the Pumas in a Test match today. Dominguez is set to win his 44th cap for the Azzurri, whom he has played for since he received a three- year ban from the Argentian Rugby Union for signing professional terms with Milan in 1990. Dominguez, who has an Italian mother, moved to Italy because he was fed up with the UAR's determination to keep the sport amateur.
