JOHAN LE ROUX, the South African prop banned from rugby until March 1996 for biting Sean Fitzpatrick, the All Black captain, will appeal today against the length of the sentence. Jannie Engelbrecht, the Springbok manager, said he opposed a pledge by Louis Luyt, the South African rugby chief, to ban Le Roux for life.
