Richard Tolkien, with crew Robert Wingate, yesterday won the two-handed Round Britain and Ireland Race in his 40-foot trimaran FPC Greenaway. His time of 18 days, 15 hours and 23 minutes, including eight days at four compulsory stop-overs, was well outside the 1989 record of the 75- foot Saab Turbo, multihulls now being restricted to 45ft.
