Training for the women's World Cup downhill in St Moritz, Switzerland was called off because of poor visibility yesterday after the Swiss skier, Monika Tschirky, crashed heavily into the safety netting injuring her shoulder.

Kristian Ghedina set the fastest time in unofficial downhill practice in Val Gardena, Italy yesterday. The Italian is attempting to win his third men's World Cup downhill victory in four years on his home-town course
