TONY KNOWLES and the Welsh veteran Terry Griffiths, battling to stay in the world's leading 16, bowed out of the British Open in Plymouth in the first round yesterday. Griffiths, the World No 8, provisionally ranked 15th, lost 5-2 to Dave Harold, while Knowles, provisionally placed 17th, was beaten 5-4 by the world No 163 Darryn Walker.
