THE world champion, Stephen Hendry, will take on Thailand's James Wattana in Bangkok this summer with pounds 50,000 at stake. The 51- frame Nescafe Extra Challenge between the world matchplay title- holder, Wattana, and the game's No 1 is the richest head-to-head match to be staged outside the UK. It will take place from 3 to 11 June with pounds 30,000 going to the winner.

PAT KENNY compiled a maximum 147 in his 5-3 first-round defeat of Andrew Clark in the Strachan Challenge Series at Woking, Surrey, yesterday.
