MARTIN POTTER, Britain's 1989 world champion, was defeated in the quarter-finals of the Gunston 500 at Durban's North Beach, in South Africa, yesterday by Australia's Gary Elkerton, who went on to win the final and top the world ratings. Potter is 16th.
