Susie Maroney, the Australian marathon swimmer, who last year became the first person to cross from Mexico to Cuba, was pulled from the water yesterday while attempting to swim to Sydney from the city of Newcastle. Maroney's support crew said hypothermia forced Maroney out of the Pacific Ocean about 17 hours after she began the swim.
