BRITAIN'S leading players, including Mark Petchey, Jeremy Bates, Chris Bailey, Chris Wilkinson and Andrew Foster, will play in the Everest

National Club League next month. The event, to be held between 14-28 May, is the Lawn Tennis Association's leading team competition for United Kingdom clubs and was first staged last year.

JIM COURIER, the top seed, from the United States, was knocked out of the Spanish Open yesterday by the unseeded Spanish teenager, Alex Corretja. Courier, who had spent a week practising on clay in Monte Carlo to prepare for the tournament, lost his second-round match 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 to the 19-year-old, who is ranked No 62 in the world.
