WILLIAM VARGAS, of Cuba, broke the snatch world record in the 54kg category at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Ponce, Puerto Rico, on Tuesday. Vargas lifted 123kg to beat the 122.5kg set by China's Bin Yang at last week's world championships in Melbourne.
