THE Olympic flame will burn in Britain next July for the first time since the 1948 Games when a record 47 nations are expected to compete in the third European Youth Olympics in Bath. The Games are seen as a stepping stone to senior competition, and up to pounds 1m of the costs for the 10-sport event - athletics, basketball, cycling, gymnastics, handball, hockey, judo, swimming, tennis and volleyball - is being underwritten by the British Olympic Association.
