The New York State Athletic Commission has adopted reforms bringing boxing promoters, judges and sanctioning bodies under greater scrutiny in response to the controversial draw decision in the fworld heavyweight title fight betwen Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield last March. The regulations give state officials a bigger say in selecting judges, require boxing judges to disclose personal financial information and limit promoters' contracts with fighters to a maximum of three years.

K T Francis, Sri Lanka's best known umpire, announced yesterday that he is to retire after Thursday's third and final Test between Sri Lanka and Australia.

Lance Klusener hit an unbeaten 101 with 11 fours and four sixes as South Africa beat Zimbabwe by nine wickets in Nairobi yesterday.

LG CUP (Nairobi): Zimbabwe 216 (G W Flower 91; 47.4 overs); South Africa 217 for 1 (L Klusener 101no; 35 overs). South Africa win by nine wickets.
