Sir: John Caird (Sports Letters, 10 November) begs for a release from the "grim strangehold" of rugby union, a game he says is "hamstrung with rules, petty judgements and cheating, with the honours going to the teams who can sucker the opposition into making mistakes and then employ their resident boot nerd to capitalise on the error."
Mr Caird, salvation is at hand, you can be released from this tedium. Surely you have heard of rugby league?
