From Mr G MacCarron Sir: I would like to offer a defence for Eric Cantona to put to the FA. He could argue that the media and everyone else is taking it from the completely wrong point of view.

Rather than setting a bad example to our young he was making quite a positive example in the sense that the next time that they hurl abuse at someone there is a possibility they will get a kick in the teeth for their trouble.
