Sir: Your piece on Britain's five Olympic gold medal-winners (17 December) sadly ignores the achievements of our Paralympic athletes who achieved such success in Barcelona last summer.
What a shame that the Independent has failed, along with so many others, to acknowledge the years of hard work and commitment put in by these athletes. Names like Tanni Gray, Chris Holmes and many others deserve to be part of sporting legend in the same way that Linford Christie and Sally Gunnell are.
The GB Olympic team brought home five gold medals and made us proud. The GB Paralympic team brought home 40 gold medals - we should be proud of that, too.
Yours sincerely,
BEN FURNER
