Sir: Anaesthetists are doctors, too. Ken Jones (27 February) says the boxer McClellan "was attended by three doctors and an anaesthetist", demonstrating a common misconception that anaesthetists are not medically qualified. This public ignorance about us is long-standing, and the Royal College of Anaesthetists will probably never correct it despite continued efforts.
